i have iso copy of ubuntu 16.10 desktop (64-bit).

please me steps upgrade ubuntu 16.04.1 lts 16.10 (yakkety yak) without loosing data.

to upgrade ubuntu 16.10 current lts need tell os want receive non-lts updates.

  1. open ‘software & updates’ using unity dash
  2. select ‘updates‘ tab
  3. find section titled ‘notify me of new ubuntu version‘
  4. change ‘for long-term support versions’ ‘for new version‘
  5. click ‘close’
