partitioning - Resizing Ubuntu ext4 partition using Gparted live dvd fails - Ask Ubuntu

this question has answer here:

i'm trying shrink ext4 ubuntu partition using gparted live dvd 50 gb windows ntfs partition. it's failing shown below:

error

my problem different other 1 because i've tried shrink it, error.

here output of e2fsck -fy /dev/sda1:

e2fsck 1.42.9 (4-feb-2014) pass 1: checking inodes, blocks, , sizes pass 2: checking directory structure pass 3: checking directory connectivity pass 4: checking reference counts pass 5: checking group summary information /dev/sda1: 661890/38690816 files (0.6% non-contiguous), 86694031/154733568 blocks

after trying @heynnema's solution, more blocks completed still got same error

okay on whim shrunk 10 gb , worked. did 4 more times , have 50 gb ntfs drive, issue solved. thanks.

right click partition want resize first try "unmount". after should able resize partition.

for issue: partition trying resize needs fixed first. says on error message please. should able resize after fixing file system.
