Ubuntu 14.04.5 System Settings Won't Launch - Ask Ubuntu


i installed ubuntu 14.04.5 , i'm having issues launching system settings. able launch initially, thing that's changed i've installed cuda, , isn't launching. screen size oddly large (see below), why i'm trying change through system settings. if there's way of doing (i'm using qnix monitor + titan x pascal graphics card), please let me know!

here's i've tried:

  • uninstalling , reinstalling system settings (sudo apt-get remove unity-control-center, sudo apt-get install unity-control-center)
  • typing unity-control-center , gnome-control-center, results in output unity: (unity-control-center:6209): glib-critical **: g_strsplit: assertion 'string != null' failed segmentation fault (core dumped), , gnome: (unity-control-center:6296): glib-critical **: g_strsplit: assertion 'string != null' failed segmentation fault (core dumped)
  • sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop: no change
