Firefox address bar not working after update to 50.0 - Ask Ubuntu

a couple of days ago updated firefox in ubuntu 16.04 50.0. when type , address in address bar, doesn't work on intro nor click on arrow next it. tried solution found online (https://support.mozilla.org/en-us/questions/1070999 ), doesn't work. deleting sqlite files didn't solve issue.

anyone else has problem or know how fix it?

i had same problem firefox 50.1.0 on ubuntu 14.04.

fix: disable instantfox add-on.

i tried repairing , rebuilding places.sqlite database in various ways described here on mozillazine no avail - had same problem couple of years ago on different computer, , rebuilding places.sqlite helped, not time.

then solved disabling instantfox add-on. picked because knew designed manipulate text in address bar. when add-on disabled, address bar works normally. when instantfox enabled, problem returns.

i have sent e-mail instantfox information.

if don't have instantfox, try disabling other add-ons 1 one , re-check. pick ones have address bar first.

i don't know if root cause in firefox itself, ubuntu, or add-on.
