apt - (16.10) How can I get the old Ubuntu Software center back? - Ask Ubuntu

i don't see point of new "ubuntu software" app. don't know how new because changed year or 2 using mint.

first, it's unnecessary ask registration when trying install apps (so-called 'nonfree') can install anyway apt-get , install before. don't see point.

second, checked options in tab ubuntu software, added more repositories , still won't find basic apps gimp, wine, etc.

am doing wrong? did skip basic option? easy in previous versions , mint, used same installer, think.

if not, how can install old software center?
