login - After power outage, main user logs out before I can use it (16.04) - Ask Ubuntu

my 16.04 lts system configured 2 users: me , (non-admin) friend. after recent neighborhood power outage, user logs out before can anything. is, login (password) prompt , supply correct password. screen clears, top bar (indicator) appears expected icons, unity launcher(?) bar appears correct icons , hides. there's "flash" (screen goes white instant normal), login screen. once top bar visible, can pull down menus etc, don't have time happen (e.g., if select thunderbird).

the other user logs in fine. guest session logs in fine. can log in terminal (ctrl-alt-f1) me fine (as su me other logins). if try switch me other user or guest, it's same logging in (as described above).

yeah, nevermind. removed ~/.auth (well, hid them in new directory) , afterwards login fine. didn't think i'd far if there authority issue. , somehow missed line in lightdm.log reported authorization failure. sorry waste time. :(
