this question has answer here:

so kinda worried installing ubuntu on main pc, since love it.

but problem is, motherboard uefi. gigabyte h81m-hd3.

would safe dual boot windows , linux on this? also, installation easy installing on pc has bios? (i have ubuntu on laptop)

also, last question, let's installed ubuntu , windows, , windows gets update, can update break grub2 bootloader?

thanks help, if able install ubuntu 16.04 on custom build pc i'd happy hell.

i agree byte commander's answer; however, it's worth noting modern uefis provide compatibility support module (csm), enables them boot bios-mode oses. since refer gigabyte motherboard, not computer vendor sells whole systems (like dell or lenovo), it's installed windows yourself, , installed in either bios/csm/legacy or efi/uefi mode. can determine boot mode in windows 10 using msinfo tool, described here.

when install ubuntu, os install in whichever mode used boot installation medium, might or might not match windows uses. it's easier match if windows installed in efi mode, because can disable csm guarantee efi-mode boot. (see this page of mine more on subject.) if boot ubuntu installer in "try before installing" mode, can open terminal window , type ls /sys/firmware/efi. if see files, you've booted in efi mode; if no such file or directory error message, you've booted in bios mode. if you're in wrong boot mode, should try again. page on csm provides tips how manage boot mode.
