boot - Ubuntu amd64 instead of i386 - cause for slow booting? - Ask Ubuntu

when trying find out why laptop takes 2 minutes boot noticed have amd64 version of ubuntu 16.04 installed instead of i386 version appropriate 1 using intel i5 processor.

is problematic use amd64 version intel processor , can switch i386 version without loosing files home directory?

could reason why ubuntu booting slow?

no, i386 32-bit cpus. amd64 64-bit cpus, i5. there never speed difference when on 64-bit cpu.

do not switch i386 version of ubuntu. will, in cases, slow computer down further limiting 2 gb of ram.
