first things first: backup, backup, backup!

warning! take no responsibility if fails , lose data because failed up!

before begin, run command find out username:

whoami

write output down! (also write down password)

now reinstalling:

  1. download ubuntu 16.04 iso

  2. burn iso dvd, or use included startup disk creator program make live usb drive.

  3. boot install media created in step #2

  4. choose install ubuntu

  5. on "installation type" screen, choose something else

  6. select ubuntu system partition, , set mount point /. be sure keep same format type, same size, , untick "format" checkbox (else data on "/" deleted!)

  7. when asked create username , password, use ones wrote down earlier!!! (else loose data)

  8. after installation finishes, follow prompts shutdown, , remove installation media when tells to.

  9. reboot , cross fingers.
