partitioning - How do I boot from USB on Ubuntu 16.10 with grub2? - Ask Ubuntu

this question has answer here:

want shrink windows partition , increase size of ubuntu one. not find clear answer already, i'm asking this.

the easiest way can think of start computer live usb (16.04 or other version). when booting, ensure select try ubuntu (not install it). once boots, load gparted. there,

  1. shrink size of windows partition desired.
  2. once operation above done increase size of ubuntu partition.
  3. once second operation done, reboot hard drive (remove usb).

this should trick.
