apt - Masking i386 entries in `aptitude`? - Ask Ubuntu

i have 64 bits system, , use aptitude select , install packages. packages comes both in 64 bits , 32 bits version, 2 versions of package listed:

    packagename packagemame:i386

often (usually?) both 64 bits , 32 bits version cannot installed simultaneously - installing one, "breaks" other...

is there way aptitude hide 1 of 2 types - eg. hide 32 bits :i386 version of packages? example configuration option select either 1 or other...

i've tried menu (c-t)->search->limit display... didn't know quite put there... ":i386" yielded nothing... "i386" yielded few packages included "i386" in package-name - ":i386"-part not part of name. , in case, want limit display packages not containing ":i386"...

the reason ask, because of tasks... here packages needed make example lamp-server or mail-server grouped - unfortunately both 32 bits , 64 bits version. if example tries add packages makes lamp-server pressing + "lamp" selected; both 32 , 64 bits version of each package selected, , "break" each other.
