OpenGL automatically "smooths" sprites in games like DOOM, Duke Nukem 3D, etcetera on System76 laptop with Intel graphics -- make it stop! - Ask Ubuntu

this first-ever time posting on stackexchange, please gentle me.

i aficionado of retro first-person shooters doom, duke nukem 3d, etcetera. may recall, enemies/objects in these games two-dimensional sprites. lot of modern source ports use opengl render graphics, great, however:

on brand-new (purchased october 2016) system76 laptop intel graphics, opengl automatically smoothing two-dimensional enemy/object sprites, in programs there option turn off feature. want retro, blocky sprites! i'm pretty sure there must hack can apply fix this, i've done lot of google searches , haven't found information on how can change it.

running ubuntu 16.10, though i've run 16.04 , fedora 24 on laptop , i'm still getting same issue. can help?
