Reading Mac RAID disks in Windows 7 - Super User

i have 2 hard drives set raid 1 set on mac. mac died, , replaced pc running windows 7. can't seem figure out way read data disks.

i tried macdrive, worked great non-raid disks, doesn't see either of these disks @ all.

these disks in rosewill 8-bay external box, comes utility called sataraid5. problem is, software doesn't run under windows 7.

does have ideas on how data? don't care if end raid set or not. need files.

raid storage formats (beyond simple mirroring) typically proprietary -- i'd recommend borrowing mac temporarily read data off array.

oops, noticed did mean raid 1 mirroring! that's odd. software raid must have written weird metadata drives, not typical mirrors.

perhaps:

one, many raid cards store meta data @ front of drive, first 128 sectors of drive reserved raid card use. information drive state, time of last boot, size , other information important raid card stored there if, however, raid card not primary hardware interface instead standard ide port bios has no way of interpreting vendor specific data. in other words bios looks @ sector 0 in boot sequence, tries find master boot record, execute boot may find. problem drive mbr 128 sectors down drive since meta data stored in area. knowing this, can trick bios skipping meta data , pointing right os boot record.
