Apache2 not restarting - segmentation fault - ideas how to fix? - Ask Ubuntu

i have new site running on digitalocean, ubuntu 14. tried installing phpmyadmin using these instructions

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-and-secure-phpmyadmin-on-ubuntu-14-04

from shell, running specified instructions caused shell freeze. restarting shell in digitalocean site displayed window previous shell operation, asking me if wanted choose apache2. window frozen , not proceed. restarted server, , can't access website, seemingly because apache down.

apache won't restart, , message apache couldn't reliably determine server's qualified domain name. says segmentation fault (core dumped). when read apache error log, says not open a logfile under webroot. when navigate logfile can open it.

so curious if have caused myself quite problem or if recoverable...

thanks!

brian

ok, figured out. wasn't able successful core dump saved, , after looking @ error log, showing previous problem.

i think happened mistakenly ran phpmyadmin install command based on instructions ubuntu 16, on 14. ran purge command on phpmyadmin , reinstalled according 14 instructions , ok!

thanks, brian
