launcher - 64 bit Ubuntu 16.04 Steam Install Issue - Ask Ubuntu

i'm sure many of know (including me,) steam runs on 32 bit infrastructure. make steam more readily accessible many users. i'm sure many of know when download ubuntu 16.04 have download libraries allow steam work reason aren't included in install.

i researched on web while , learned how extract .deb file of steam. however, got stuck on launcher. whenever run launcher asks me install files. when write in password of approval, code says can't install files :(.

please me. i'm considering uninstall ubuntu , install 12.04 version computer compatible steam. or download steam os. if me great because 16.04 , it's application store thing.

i followed steps mentioned under manual installation on page https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-install-steam-on-ubuntu-16-04-xenial-xerus , installation did run flawless on 64-bit ubuntu 16.10.

sudo apt-get install wget gdebi libgl1-mesa-dri:i386 libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 libc6:i386 wget http://media.steampowered.com/client/installer/steam.deb sudo gdebi steam.deb

since ran on virtual machine without proprietary drivers launch of steam did spit out errors of swrast not found should solve installation troubles.
