Will current Lenovo Thinkpad E560 run with Ubuntu 16.04 - Ask Ubuntu

i thinking of switching ubuntu 16.04 windows. plan run on:

lenovo thinkpad e560 20ev000r - 15.6" full-hd ips display - intel core i5-6200u cpu - 8gb ram - 1tb hdd - intel hd graphics 520 - conexant cx20751-21z

does know if ubuntu run straight out of box on laptop or if there loads of alterations carry out later (which wouldn't nice newcomer). :-)

it work fine out of box. however, there current , unfortunately persistent c-state bug regarding current skylake cpus- skylake processors unable achieve sleep state farther c3, resulting in increase power drain , reducing life of cpu (aka, worse battery life when sleeping/idle).

the new kernel may or may not fix issues. people have found success in disabling devices (i fixed c-state issue on hp laptop disabling ethernet port, others have disabled sd card reader, etc.). may need quite bit of poking around if want decent battery life on machine. if want check c-states of cpu, install powertop , view "idle stats".

other that, ubuntu should work fine, albeit possible power drain issues.
