what debian , how work , why in every linux , unix written based in debian , on , loooooppp

in simple terms, each version of linux has same core functions different file structure , different apps. think of way, if planting garden, might put radishes close gate because radishes, or may put them far gate because eat them occasionally. radishes there in both gardens, in different places.

there interesting "family tree" shows many linux types have been derived debian @ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/list_of_linux_distributions. unlike windows or mac os/x, because linux open source, many people have played , produced useful variations.

debian - Kali Linux - Debootstrap error Failed to determine codename for the release - Super User

installing new kali linux 2016 rolling release hdd via usb. i made bootable usb using universal usb. booted off usb , selected "graphical install", had issue @ beginning install prompting cannot find data in cdrom, pulled usb , waited 30 seconds, plugged in waited 30 seconds plugged in , allowed me continue through install. i enabled lvm , went through whole process once done went next step "install system" @ point error debootstrap error failed determine codename release at point cannot go further in installation. went "debian installer menu" , executed shell. shell tried mount usb /cdrom using "mount -t vfat /dev/sdb1 /cdrom" found on debian forum. receive following error "mounting /dev/sdb1 on /cdrom failed: no such file or directory" try mkdir cdrom, states exists. sdb1 usb according "mount" i not sure @ point. advice great. thanks. i had same issue installing kali linux usb. tried install os graphic...

i'm having issue combo. i'm trying set lacp bond using ubuntu 16.04 , cisco sg-300. have cisco configured lacp on 2 server's ports . in ubuntu have following config: # /etc/network/interfaces auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto eno1 iface eno1 inet manual bond-master bond0 auto eno2 iface eno2 inet manual bond-master bond0 auto bond0 iface bond0 inet static address 10.0.0.5 gateway 10.0.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 dns-nameserver 8.8.8.8 bond-mode 4 bond-miimon 100 bond-lacp-rate 1 bond-slaves eno1 eno2 xmit_hash_policy 0 this works has 1 issue. whenever system started [eno1 seems grab static ip bond0 10.0.0.5 , 10.0.0.5 unreachable on network. if 'ifdown eno1 && ifup eno1' bond grab 10.0.0.5 , start working normally. have clue why slave device grabbing static ip meant bond0 that? there static configuration in /etc/dhcpcd.conf. not sure how got there since i've used static on box. removed offending lines file removing dhcpcd5 pack...
